How Walmart took me by surprise
I’m usually on the lookout for great finds, yet when I’m at Walmart I usually only expect to find deals on diapers and wipes. Recently; however, we moved and I have been looking for good prices for things around the house. I was at Walmart the other week with my kiddos when we walked past a part of the store I seldom visit- the furniture isle. Something caught my eye and off I went to check it out. There on the shelves were some super cute floor poufs at a really great price. Over the course of the next few weeks I had found a number of cute items for my home. Here are my 4 favorite Walmart finds.
Super cute Floor poufs
Seating is scarce in my second floor bonus room. I thought the poofs would be great for the kids so they would stop squishing me on the couch. Now my kiddos have a place to sit their butts besides on me. (I love it when they snuggle- but it’s exhausting when it’s all three kids at once and they fight over me.) The fabric was a cozy casual feel, perfect for what I wanted for the space and came in a couple of funky geometric patterns. Even the price was great, I had been looking at other shops for floor options but wasn’t ready for the steep price. At $40.00, it was a steel of a deal. Now the kiddos can fight over the floor poufs, oh wait, they don’t have to- I bought three.
Satisfying for my Succulents
I had been struggling to find tiny vases or pots for my succulents. Most of what I found were either too big, or I didn’t have time for fun DIY- most of the poor little guys were still in the pots I bought them in. Then it occurred to me, sitting in my kitchen drawer were four adorable little bowls I bought a few months previous. I loved these bowls but didn’t find I used them enough. SO, I converted them into succulent dishes. Am I sorry I don’t get to put yogurt into them anymore? Nope, now I get to see them every day on my Living room window ledge.

The unexpected Pillows
Pillow were not high on my priority list of things to get. I have a large list for things for the house (finishing my basement office and family room) and pillows were more of a luxury than a necessity. Yet again, I found some funky pillows at a great price and I really couldn’t say no. My living room couch was on the way and I couldn’t stand the idea of using the ones that came with it. The colors were perfect in tying my colors in my living room together as well as adding some new color to bring some variety.
The Elusive Towel
I spotted these towels a while ago, but sadly have not bought them yet. My new bathroom is screaming for my old towels to be gone. I try to buy only what I need and only when I have money for it-so right now my old scruffy towels will do. So these towels are officially on my wish list, waiting for the day to be hung on my hook.
P.S. My mother actually bought a couple of these towels, and now my bathroom is jealous!
What other surprises are in store?
I suppose I had not given Walmart a fair chance in the past. (My American friends may be wondering about my hesitancy. Here in Canada we do not have all the options that the American Walmart’s have to offer.) I have learned though that to create home design that you love, you need to be willing to set your pride aside. When you find something that you love or that would work with what you already have, get it. Beautiful decor can be found anywhere. Don’t be afraid to let your guard down in any store, flea market, thrift store, gallery or internet site.
